AARP and ArtLine Project

40 West artists worked with the community in 2020 and 2021 to enhance the ArtLine, bring joy, and help reduce social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic. This project is focused on making the ArtLine a great place for all ages, and was made possible thanks to an AARP Community Challenge Grant and partner support from the City of Lakewood, 40 West Arts, Metro West Housing Solutions, and Xcel Energy Foundation.

Pollinator Path Ground Mural

A new pedestrian crosswalk at 17th Avenue and Pierce Street not only makes it safer and more convenient to walk and bike the ArtLine, but also more beautiful thanks to the Pollinator Path ground mural painted by artist Charlotte Ricker and community volunteers from ages 7 to 77!

Creativity in COVID Time

Community members created paint by number art kits, designed by 40W artist Sean Doherty. The art is installed on an ArtLine fence along Pierce Street at Lamar Station Plaza. Check out photos of the art panels using the link below, or better yet, visit the fence art in person.
